Northbrook organization distributes frozen chickens to 100+ food pantries
Northbrook Tower newspaper published an article about our second annual fundraising event held on Friday, October 16th.
HRN aims to play vital role combating hunger
One night only. That’s all it takes for the Hunger Resource Network to see the impact of what happens when the community comes together in an effort to put an end to hunger.
“Early on a sunny and cold Saturday morning an assortment of vehicles from all over the metropolitan area began coming into and going out of the Whole Foods Market parking lot off Willow Road in Northbrook.
By 9:45 a.m., 100,000 pounds of chicken had been taken from the lot to be distributed to 68 food pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens in five counties.”

On Saturday, November 15th, with the help of over 100 volunteers, we reached two milestones:
1) we distributed 100,000 pounds of chicken to more than 70 recipient agencies and
2) we distributed our 1,000,000th pound of food since we began in 2009.
We are so grateful to all those who helped us make this happen and look forward to distributing more protein to Chicago area food pantries and soup kitchens in the near future. The need is great!
